Last night we took the Company section Boys to Flash Climbing Centre in Solihull.
They all had a good time, including one of the leaders

We had 14 Boys in attendance. The noise level made it obvious they were enjoying their time here.

Belated 75th Celebration

Yesterday (Sat27th) we held our get-together to belatedly celebrate 75 years. There was a good attendance, though several ex-members were put off by the cold and the snowfall earlier in the morning. All enjoyed meeting up and looking back over Some of the archive material. A thank you is extended to those who provided cakes for the occasion

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group practice expedition

Our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group finally got out on their practice expedition over the weekend. The group consists of two of our Boys, two from the 80th and one from the 1st Solihull Girls' Brigade.

Well done, especially having to cope with entrances that have now been closed off.

75th Anniversary Reunion booked

The afternoon of Saturday 27th November has been booked for a reunion get together. Final time to be confirmed (but probably 2 - 5 pm). Please can you let us know if you would be attending so we can arrange catering. Either through facebook or email to the company's email address.

New Session Starts Tuesday 14th September

We will be restarting on Tuesday 14th September. Any Boy who will be going up to a new section should attend the same session they were in last term and will be promoted to their new section the following week (21st)

Congratulations on First and Third

Return to Face to Face meetings

Last night the Company Section made use of the fine weather and headed straight for the park. What was really encouraging was that we had a full turn out.

Return to Face2Face meetings

We plan to return to a limited form of Face to Face meetings this coming Tuesday - Please look out for communication from our Captain (Jamie) descripting our plans and what you need to do. Meanwhile, can you log on to OBM (https://obm.boys-brigade.org.uk/) and confirm your son's details as OBM is a vital part of our contacting plan.

2021 has started

Last night we had our first meeting of 2021 over Zoom. The boys in each section all got involved which was great to see.

Zoom Christmas party

On Tuesday we will have our Zoom Christmas Party. If you haven't got the connection details, then please contact your section leader for details.

Weekly zooming - second week of this half-term

All the sections had the second zoom meeting of this half term now that we're zooming every week. If you've not joined for your section's meeting then do join us, we'll be glad to see you.

2nd half of term will have more zoom meetings

This evening all three sections has their first zoom meeting of this half term. We will now be zooming every week up to Christmas. If you've not yet joined for your section's meeting then do join us next week, we'll be glad to see you.

Gold Group Training Walk

This weekend our Gold group had a socially distanced training walk in the Peak District. Feedback is that they enjoyed it. Well done.

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group training day

This weekend we managed to our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group out for a training day walk. They all did well and from feedback it sounds like they enjoyed it.

First meetings complete

 A good first meeting for each of the sections. The Boys' enjoyed their meetings and from a leader's perspective it was good to see them again. Now to start planning for the next one.

BB: Virtual Re-Start Details

Hi All,

We are all set for the virtual re-start this Tuesday 15th September and look forward to seeing and hearing from everyone, the sections will meet at the following times: -

Details have been sent to the parents, please check your inbox (or spam if you don't see it) - if you haven't received the details please contact your son's section leader.

Parents - please ensure anchor and junior section boys are accompanied by an adult during the session.

We recognise this format will not suit all the lads but please encourage them to give it a chance. As leaders we will be learning and looking for the best way to engage with all the lads and will adapt the sessions as we go forward. It will be great to see their faces even if they are not comfortable with joining the conversation, there will be the option to use the chat function or feedback with thumbs up, etc.

• Treasure Hunt Bingo Print Out
• Scissors
• Glue
• Pen / Pencil

Please print out the attached 'Treasure Hunt Bingo' sheet and cut out the pictures ready to play. You may want to stick the picture to the grid. If you are unable to print you can draw the grid based on the on the sheet and mark / draw where the picture would go. Feel free to come dressed in your best pirate outfit.

We will be exploring what adventures everyone got over the summer, in particular think new or exciting places you have visiting or activities.

• 4 Sheet of Paper
• 40 Counters (tiddly winks, pennies or small squares of paper)

Notes:
1) Normally we would be promoting the lads between sections, but while we meet virtually we will continue to meet in the same sections as last term to keep familiarly and minimise change.
2) We will not be collecting subs this term, so please don't make any bank transfers.
3) You will receive a second email requesting your details on OBM are correct, please ensure these are review and confirmed asap.

BB: Virtual Re-Start in Autumn 2020

Hope you have been able to enjoy the summer and the return to school has gone smoothly especially those starting a new school. I'm sure it will come as no surprise that BB is not yet able to meet back face to face and this is likely to be the case until November at the very earliest.

As leaders we met last week and agreed the importance of maintaining the lad's friendships with both each other and the leaders, so from the September 15th we will be running short online interactive sessions via Zoom every other week until October half term. 

The full details will be communicated later this week once details have been finalised, this will be a new experience for us all but really hope this is something you can get involve with.
